Shark Fin Melon

Widely used in southern Central America and Asia, this vegetable is so named because it is, traditionally, made into a broth that resembles shark fin soup. This variety spreads vigorously, particularly in nitrogen-rich soils, producing 4-5 pale green fruits per plant. They have mild-flavoured, cucumber-like flesh.
